Update from the Office of the Mayor
Incoming Mayor Mike Arnold and Councilman Ryan Moses are getting settled into their offices, and we are getting the ball rolling on some new initiatives. We will have plenty to announce in the coming weeks. Here is just a few of the things we’re working on:
Coffee with the Mayor
Come and meet the Mayor and other key city leaders!
Starting next week (June 1st), every Thursday morning from 8:30-10 at Fairview Coffee, 1721 US-281, Mayor Mike will host a casual gathering, along with a new guest each week. The first guest will be City Secretary Laurie Cassidy.
Come enjoy some great coffee, say hi, and learn more about our city government!
Financial Transparency and Security
We are putting together a volunteer committee of experts to review and advise city staff on our financial reporting and security protocols. With so many changes in staff, software, and formatting in recent years, it has been difficult for the average citizen to track our budget and spending. Our goal is to clear up any uncertainty and ensure transparency so our citizens can have full confidence that everything is being done right with their money.
Community Connection Coordinator
We are working to establish an honorary volunteer position called Community Connection Coordinator. Old timers around here miss the days when the community came together for events like street dances, picnics, etc.
This person will be tasked with helping find fun ways to bring the community together and inspire deeper community spirit and pride. Ideas include rekindling the old street dances, starting a softball league, perhaps a “Citizen of the Month” award, and so on.
