2024 Eclipse Planning Task Force for Blanco County

The goal of this task force is to encourage preparation, offer suggestions, and assist with sharing ideas for the upcoming eclipses on Oct. 14, 2023, & April 8, 2024. 

Blanco Coalition of Awareness, Prevention, and Treatment of Substance Abuse (CoAPT)
Blanco CoAPT is a group of people who have come together with a common goal to reduce youth substance abuse.

Blanco County
The county seat is located in Johnson City, 14 miles north on US Highway 281 from Blanco. The county website provides contact information and resources for the county, including county judge, commissioners, county attorney, county clerk, sheriff, tax assessor-collector, justices of the peace, and district court.

Blanco County Community Resource Center
The Blanco County Community Resource Center links people to the aid and support they need, and brings nonprofit and state agencies together in the same location to deliver powerful collective impact and build capacity all without costing local taxpayers or clients anything.

Blanco County Transportation and Economic Development Plan
The Blanco County Transportation and Economic Development Plan was approved by the Blanco County Commissioners Court on Feb. 23, 2021. It was developed in a collaboration between Blanco County, CAPCOG, TxDOT, and TTI as a vision for economic growth and transportation improvements to guide Blanco County through the year 2040. 

Blanco Independent School District
Blanco ISD is a TEA "Recognized" school district. They are a member of UIL Districts 8-AA and 13-AA and have active and competitive programs in athletics, band, FFA, UIL academics, and One Act Play, among others. Blanco Independent School District encompasses 378 square miles and is located primarily in Blanco, although touching or including sections of Hays, Comal, Kendall and Gillespie counties.

Blanco Library 

The mission of the Blanco Library is to provide open access to information and to promote literacy, love of reading, and lifelong learning opportunities for all members of the community.

Blanco County Friends of the Night Sky

Blanco County Friends of the Night Sky is an association of neighbors who want to protect the view of the stars at night. 

Blanco-Pedernales Groundwater Conservation District (BPGCD)

BPGCD is responsible for the conservation, preservation, protection, and recharge of groundwater and aquifers within Blanco County.

Blanco Rodeo Association 

Blanco Rodeo Association is a 501C3 non-profit with the purpose of preserving & promoting traditional western culture thru community education, workshops, public rodeo competitions & playdays. They maintain a public arena facility at Yett Park for these activities & members' use. 

Blanco Wheels and Feet, Inc.

Blanco Wheels and Feet is a nonprofit organization dedicated to walkability. They improve walkability and alternative transportation for the community of Blanco by providing and enhancing infrastructure, encouraging public involvement, and educating people about the benefits and characteristics of walkable places.

Capital Area Council of Governments(CAPCOG)
CAPCOG serves as an advocate, planner and coordinator on important regional issues in the 10-county Austin metropolitan area. It works directly with its member local governments to recognize opportunities for cooperation and eliminate unnecessary duplication in emergency communications, elderly assistance, law enforcement training, criminal justice planning, solid waste reduction, homeland security planning, infrastructure development, transportation planning and economic development.

Gem of the Hills
Gem of the Hills connects and enriches the community through nature, culture, and wellness. The Gem provides Blanco with a spacious and affordable venue for fitness and wellness classes; a place where locals can gather to play cards, celebrate, or simply share interests and concerns; and a native wooded area with trails.

Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center 
The Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center (HLFCC) is dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence. It is the only sexual assault center serving Blanco, Burnett, Lampasas, and Llano counties. All services are confidential and provided at no charge to victims. 

Hill Country Alliance
The Hill Country Alliance (HCA) is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to raise public awareness and build community support around the need to preserve the natural resources and heritage of the Central Texas Hill Country.

Hill Country Area Crime Stoppers
Hill Country Area Crime Stoppers is a non-profit volunteer citizen-directed organization that works with local law enforcement and the media through tips provided to help keep our communities a safe place to live.

Keep Blanco Beautiful (KBB)
Keep Blanco Beautiful works at beautifying the city, from maintaining the plants on the Courthouse Square to cleaning up trash during the annual community Trash-Off and River Cleanup. The Streetscape Committee is working with KBB to raise funds for the city's master planner.

Texas Commission on Environmental Quality
TCEQ is the environmental agency for the state. Information regarding air, land, water, licenses, permits, and reporting can be found on the website. 

Texas A&M ArgiLife Extension
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is a unique education agency with a statewide network of professional educators, trained volunteers, and county offices. It reaches into every Texas county to address local priority needs. Some of our major efforts are in mitigating drought impacts; conserving water use in homes, landscapes, and production agriculture; improving emergency management; enhancing food security; and protecting human health through education about diet, exercise, and disease prevention and management.

Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI)
The Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) is an agency of the State of Texas and member of the Texas A&M University System that addresses complex transportation challenges and opportunities with innovation, objectivity and unmatched technical expertise.

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)
The Texas Department of Transportation oversees the construction and maintenance of the state's immense state highway system; the agency is also responsible for overseeing aviation, rail, and public transportation systems in the state.
