What is Blanco’s Comprehensive Master Plan?
Blanco’s Comprehensive Master Plan is an effort to update the city's community vision through its development and growth framework, building on the original plan from 2004.
The goal is to create a far-reaching vision for the future of the Blanco community, including areas beyond the city limits and within the Blanco ISD boundaries. This community-driven process focuses on addressing key development topics such as:
- Land Use
- Transportation
- Public Facilities
- Parks and Recreation
- Community Enhancement
- Growth Capacity
A major component of the plan is gathering community input through surveys, town halls, and outreach, aimed at discovering what the residents love about Blanco, what they hope for the future, and what they wish to avoid. The vision will focus on long-term goals, using a mindset of “We Can IF” to envision future possibilities without being constrained by current obstacles.
Key elements of the planning process include:
- Reviewing existing conditions.
- Creating a long-term vision.
- Setting goals and objectives based on community desires.
- Developing implementation strategies to achieve those goals.
- Drafting a future land-use map.
The CMP Committee will host monthly meetings (both in person and virtual) and organize sub-committees to work in smaller ad-hoc groups for specific categories. We aim to hold outreach events, including a town hall, before the holidays. Community involvement is vital to shaping the vision for Blanco’s future. WE NEED YOUR INPUT!
